Ashish Pitrodafield notes

Field notes on web applications 10+ years

Ashish Pitroda

Senior full-stack developer. I build, fix, upgrade and take ownership of web applications — from the database through to deployment.

That's a wagtail. The CMS I know best is named after it.

I

Approach

Anyone can start a project.

Fewer can rescue one.

I do both, and stay for the rest.

A field guide to the work

six kinds of work, usually seen together

things I have built

Projects I have built, pinned in as they are finished — each with a working demo where there is one.

IV

Method

the same five entries, every project

  1. 01Audit

    Understand what is actually there.

I read the codebase, reproduce the problem, and find the real cause rather than the first symptom. You get a plain summary of what is wrong and what fixing it takes.

  2. 02Plan

    Break it into milestones.

Scope, estimates and priorities, ordered so something useful ships early. You see the trade-offs, which keeps the decisions about time and cost yours rather than mine.

  3. 03Build

    Write it, then test it.

Features developed against real data and tested before they reach you. I use AI tooling to move faster, and I review, secure and understand everything I ship with it.

  4. 04Ship

    Into production, carefully.

Deployment, servers, SSL, caching and CDN. Releases are staged so problems are caught in advance, instead of your users being the ones who find them first.

  5. 05Support

    Stay on after launch.

Maintenance, upgrades and the occasional emergency. Work stays documented as it goes, so you are never locked in to me — you keep me because it is useful.

V

Habitat

sorted by how often I'm found there

Regularly, and confidently

Enough to own the whole application.

  • JavaScript
  • Vue.js
  • Next.js
  • AWS
  • Nginx

Where the work has taken me

Real projects, not tutorials.

  • Laravel
  • WordPress
  • Chrome extensions

Send a note

A new build, a stalled project, an old system that needs upgrading, or an application you need someone to take over — send me the details and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right fit.
